Its a small cafe on United Nations Ave, near Khalsa Diwan temple. They serve Indian as well as Filipino food. Indian menu covers many dishes but the taste is nowhere close to good restaurants such as New Bombay. Given the price its still value for money though. Lassi is good and can be tried.
Really good Indian food in Manila, and not expensive also. The mutton biryani is very delicious — reminds me of the biryani I had in Little India in Singapore. The long grains of basmati rice are flavored well with Indian curry and spices. It’s not too spicy as well — just enough to tickle the tastebuds; no water needed after. The samosas are packed and tasty, too! As for the naan… it’s bland. It pairs well with the buttered chicken and the chickpeas, but… it’s not their forte. The lassi shake is good! (My wife isn’t a fan, though.) Thick, with a touch of lemon flavor, and a bit yeasty/cheesy…
This place is definitely open from 930am to 7pm daily except sundays and holidays. We almost did not push through because we read a review here. We went here past 1pm, late lunch pero almost puno yung place. They are located across Uniliver. Hindi lang halata na yung glassdoor beside the Assad Mini Market yung door to get to the elevator going up to Assad Cafe. We loved the chicken vindaloo and mutton biryani. Hindi malansa yung mutton nila and masarap biryani. Chapati is okay too. We didn't like their spicy chicken. It was too dry. Staff were polite and attentive. So thumbs up sa service!
Food was good and serving size is top notch. Definitely bang for your buck as their serving size is bigger compared to other restaurants with a similar menu. They are more like a Pakistani-Filipino fusion restaurant leaning more on the Filipino side. The adjacent customers where I was seated asked the waiter what vegetable dish would you recommend. Told them "chopsuey" a Chinese-Filipino dish. I was hoping they would recommend a Pakistani dish but no. But the food was good, no question.
Had late lunch while having my car service on a nearby shop. Nice Biryani. Also offers other Asian food. Sadly lot of the menu (beef, fish, etc) were not available that time.
