A place where you can eat your traditional Filipino food by means of its default goodness. Default goodness means - it is good and the canonized recipe you know but there's really no wow factor except the fact that you are dining in a elegant restaurant so ambient and the service enhances the experience overall. Maybe they need to be more aggresive in exploring enhanced flavor but never loses its base taste. ;)
Had lunch here today. The staff were attentive to customers. We had our order fast. The kare-kare tastes gourmet, there are a lot of vegetables added, and the pork rind is gelatinous and chewy. Meanwhile, their beef kaldereta is really well-cooked, with the beef falling off the bones. The rice is 'malata' indeed and this needs to be improved by either changing your rice variant or your way of prepping it.
That salad is very sad for P375. Toppings and dressing were so minimal. I could get a lot lot more from Blake’s for a lesser price. Clubhouse sandwich very pinoy tasty and dry for P355.
I tried their very famous Lola Ising's Adobo Rice, which was wonderful. The taste is good; tender meat and huge cuts. Another outstanding dish was the Embotido; it may not be appealing but its sauce carries the whole thing. The Chicken Stroganoff, Pene ala Putanesca, and Spanish Callos were all below average. I just wish their rice was cooked better. All of our rice are the same, "malata". It really affects the entire food experience. I've visited their other branches. I wish they were consistent .
For the price you’d never thought it’s only two pieces cut in half. And Spanish sardines straight out of bottles from grocery stores. They did not even serve us the vinegar until we asked.
