The best pares we had so far when it comes to tenderness and price point. Some were cheaper but not as good as this. Just don't expect too much since this restaurant looks really old, like it was built on the 90s and hasn't gone on any renovations yet. The parking is really a hassle since it's on the streets, not stree-side parking. There’s always w line of cars parked outside so we already parked on the Alberto's side but when we asked the kuya, he mentioned that "it should be fine since the lane being parked is not being used anyways", weird but since it was raining so we gave it a try. Nex…
Beef pares was good. Rice was not so good. Siomai quite sweet and big. Siopao, bolabola was a bit sweet but still good enough.
This place had been a go-to for me since I was a kid. While it is endearing to me in its simple carinderia splendor, the times have not been kind to it. And one of my fears seems to be present in some of the reviews as well. Recently the taste of the pares seems off from what I am used to, mind you for 18 years. Its a notable change that unfortunately makes it difficult to keep coming back, on top of the marked up prices.
I liked their beef pares not too sweet, just right. Siomai was meh, and the sizzling meals were straight-up awful. If you’re eating here, stick to the pares.
We ordered super mami, beef pares, pork steak, and siomai. Pork steak: The pork was quite tender, but the gravy was just alright, nothing extraordinary. Siomai was good; it contained vegetable bits. Beef pares is likewise delicious, but not worth the dayo. Super mami is just okay; I don't like the thick noodles. Kudos for the quick service despite a long queue.
