Ibis Styles Manila Araneta City's buffet outlet, strEATs, is located at their 5th floor with access to Gateway Mall 2's Roofdeck area, making it a stone's throw away from Sagrada Familia Church as well as a liesurely time around the mall. It is worth mentioning that we availed strEATs Breakfast buffet at a discounted rate as part of their room package. I personally like their breakfast buffet, being an avid fan of simple breakfast food such as Fried Rice, Bacon, Sausages, Pancakes, Omelettes, Scrambled Eggs, Dried Fish, etc. Due to the hotel's location, it is really easy to compare strEATs …
The place looks up to date and clean. The staff are warm. The food selection is good for that amount. We came on a monday and there were large fresh shrimp cocktails, tender and tasty beef and dry aged beef and i can't name a dish that tasted bad. Everything was either well seasoned or satisfactory. The gelatto was so good too. There's enough selection for food for them and drinks are included.
The layout makes you walk a lot, from station to station and to your seat. Maybe because the place is big. Nice staff. Everything's self service, including your first hot drink (first time I experienced this in a hotel, maybe because it's economy, but they did serve our water). Also, all stations were cleared at exactly 10am. Food and selection were just alright.
If we're just talking about taste and not the choices, I would give it a 5 star, however for the amout that they charge versus the spread is unjustified. Service was a little disappointing too. It took maybe around 30 to 40 minutes to get our receipt. After we had left and we were already somewhere far from the restaurant, they phone us to inform that we had forgotten our cake, only to get another call halfway going back that we were not entitled to one. The atmosphere was cool though. Not worth going here.
Pros: Service, Cleanliness (Dining and Restroom), Ambiance. Beef Catalan -tender, like caldereta Wagyu cubes - good off the grill. Shrimps were big and tasted fresh. Steak made to order was cooked medium as requested but sliced super thin. Sorbet - refreshing Cons: Food Selection is very limited. Went last Sunday for dinner and most food are unavailable. Served are mostly chicken and cream dory dishes. 4 oysters left for baking and tasted bad. Oysters in the aquarium were for separate orders. Pizza was so-so w/ the mussel topping tasted very off (had to spit out the oyster and mussel). Charc…
