Affordable and good portions!! I got the set menu which gave me a taster of everything. The sauce was excellent, I particularly liked the ginger and spicy sauce. Friendly staff too. My only comment is that the food could be warmer - it came out lukewarm and got cold quickly. Also, note that they don't take card payments.
One of the best recipes for Hainanese Chicken Rice meals here in the country -- and so affordable with the bonus of unli rice when dining in. For takeouts, they give 2 scoops of their chicken rice. It's been a year since my last visit to one of its branches and it seems the rice tastes dofferent somehow. It lacks the sharpness of the authentic chicken rice. It is still good, however, but still quite a disappointment. The ginger oil is still ao authentic but I could taste that what we got wasn't so fresh :( . I have to commend the staff who were all friendly and hardworking. They recommend …
Been eating here for a decade. Taste-wise, food was way better and authentic years ago. We miss those days. Fast forward to now, we still crave to eat here every now and then. The ginger oil still tastes great - their recipe is what sets it apart from other Hainanese restaurants.
Don’t mistake this for a totally Chinese restaurant because of the name (Hainan in China, get it?) but it got its name from the famous Hainanese Chicken of Singapore. The place serves mostly Singaporean (or Malaysian if you insist that Singapore’s food culture basically stems from Malaysia)….and who is not enthralled with the flavor of laksa! Like eggs Benedict, my mind (and taste buds) goes on shutdown and autopilot mode whenever I see these food items in the menu. I should say that the laksa in this place did not scrimp on its ingredients (lots of tofu, fishcake, seafood balls and noodles)…
I had the Hainanese chicken. They have a good taste, but I hope the chicken is meaty. You would only get a very small amount of meat. The Hainanese rice is below my expectations, it’s near being rice cake, but it's a plus that it's unlimited. Their ginger sauce is quite different, but I like their hot sauce. I like the ginger tea, but again, it's a very small amount, mostly ice.
