Better than the Mandarin across the street. The original owner opened his own restaurant after losing the Mandarin through bad faith dealings by another party. Food is tasty and without msg. Even the complimentary peanuts are good. Love the fruit juices.
Food is good and fresh. Price is reasonable. Quantity and quality is good. Service is consistent (please do give generous tips to servers specially if you eat in big group as bigger group tends to make more special requests and this is no joke for those who serves - they walk more back and forth into the kitchen to your tables).
Still undecided which Mandarin is better than the other, which is a good thing. We often visit both restaurants! This particular side has my wife's favorite polonchay tofu. You will notice both competing restaurants still have the 2-5PM dimsum promo, so don't miss it. Looks to me, regardless whichever one of them you pick, there is no wrong answer!
Got their Peking Duck, two-way at 1599, and it was yummy. Also ordered broccoli with 3 kinds of mushrooms, Their version of Cha miswa was just ok. Their hakaw were small, compared to other Chinese restaurants. Service is great.
It's difficult to find good Chinese food in the south. Hua Yen (same owner as the Mandarin resto across it) is close to almost being as good as the regular Chinese dimsum place in Manila. The flavors can still improve, but the ingredients are generous. The Hot & Sour soup tastes like those made at home, but the addition of fish lip, mushroom, bamboo, and shrimp made it more delicious. Service is also very good! I also like how attentive they are in helping you find parking (which can be a challenge in the area).
