I went to this Japanese restaurant a while back, and it was a great experience overall. The food was authentic, and the staff were really warm and attentive, making sure everything was just right. The atmosphere can feel a bit overwhelming if you're not too familiar with Japanese food, so it might be a good idea to bring a friend along, but it's also a comfortable spot whether you're dining alone or with a group. The menu had a lot of options, and I’m definitely planning to come back and try more dishes!
Had lunch here with an office colleague on her suggestion. The restaurant is on the upper floor of Makati Cinema Square (Fernando entrance) and you should know that there's another Akitaya restaurant along Mile Long a few blocks away. No idea if there's any relationship between the two. I have the impression that this is a bit less popular than the other Japanese restaurants in the area of which there are many, but I quite enjoyed my order nonetheless and did not feel shortchanged by not going to one of the more popular restaurants. Traditional Japanese restaurant ambiance. However, the smell of the restaurant could be improved. It's a smell of an old cabinet. Very generous serving size. Value for money. In ordering the Bento Shrimp tempura, you can request for an all shrimp serving at a higher price. They have a small private room for small meeting and small gathering. A good choice for good tasting Japanese food.
Discovered this place through Tiktok! We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary here in Akitaya. Ambience: feels like you’re transported to Japan! The interior design and music are on point. Majority of the customers are Japanese. Service: no complaints for the 2 resident servers, one also doubles as the cashier. Service time is not the fastest though. Food: taste is just okay. Food are served hot and fresh from the kitchen. They are known for the kiritanpo (we got shoyu and miso flavors) — we liked it! We haven’t tried the other Akita specialties of this resto - Japanese hotpot and Inaniw…
Extra hidden gem inside makati square. It's introvert friendly. Quiet and peaceful. You can enjoy your meal without the distraction of public chatter/noise. Their miso soup was light and served hot. I loved it. The tendon serving was huge. I was surprised. Combination was perfect and delicious. Thank you for the good meal. I'm just personally not into too much nori. I find it too salty for my tongue, but it compliments the entire taste of the bowl. Place was well ventilated and restaurant doesn't have service charge. Staff was warm and welcoming. Thank you. I'll come back for more
