Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Super! The crab pasta is a must! The octopus salad is a must! The ingredients are premium and the food is well thought of, with the flavors really coming through. Will definitely be back!
Everything was so incredibly delicious and had such complex flavors! Will definitely come back soon
an ala carte modan! if u want try modan but have trouble booking, eat here!! everything except the cooked gyoza was yummmm
definitely another masterpiece by chef jorge. i’m always amazed by how creative his dishes are, each one having its own distinct character and uniqueness. i loved how they experimented with combining hojicha and iced tea, which turned out surprisingly well. the shokupan was incredibly buttery and paired perfectly with the crab aglio olio. i do feel like i didn’t fully enjoy the donabes because i tried the crab aglio olio first—the donabes had more subtle flavors, while the aglio olio was bold, salty, and rich with seafood notes. my personal recommendation would be to start with the rice dish…
If you’re looking for fresh takes on your fave Japanese dishes, Makanai is the place to be! The Karaage was best paired with the caviar and mayo. Both noodle dishes we tried were amazing. The Gyoza Tartare had really strong notes of wasabi, which threw me off at first but got significantly better with each bite. Would love to try more dishes soon
