We all had what we craved for. It was great at 10:30, when we were the first in line and the items on the counter were still warm. I enjoyed my curry katsudon and tempura. It was a good experience to make your own sauce. However, there was no grated radish for the tempura sauce. They had lots of ginger and onion leaves available at the sauce counter. The hot tea was delicious.
Marugame Udon is Marugame Udon. You get the quality for the price you pay. It could be said that this brand has become the staple not just for Filipino Japanese food brands but for fast food brands as well. It's pragmatic, it delivers and it packs a punch for a very affordable price range. You can never go wrong with Marugame Udon.
This is our first time trying the chain, so we weren't anticipating much because it's a fast food chain - self-serve counter and not a kaiseki. We came here for a quick bite, and the amount of food that was delivered to us was a little bit satisfactory. My husband had a samurai udon dish with two pieces of sliced pork in it - broth is bland, and I had the beef Yakiniku bowl - considerably flavourful. Large Beef Ontama serving is too small, I tried to bring it up to them but they said it should be that amount only. 80 grams to be exact. They also said that the difference between regular and large serving is just the Udon noodles and not the beef/meat. I'm so disappointed, and it's obvious that the one serving the food is a new trainee.
