I was at Pasig SM mall today and saw Monga’s fried chicken and it looked good. I only waited a few minutes and received my chicken order solo piece 239P. It was hot and crispy but totally fails in flavour. The chicken is so salty it ruins it. It is like having a glass of sea water with your chicken. It over powers all the good about this chicken. I would not have it again. It was very disappointing to say the least.
Monga is within SM Hypermarket in Pasig along C5 so the atmosphere is pretty much what Hypermarket’s, which is pretty good for an SM. I had the Sesame Soy Pasta with Chicken and iced tea, amounting to Php 265 in Aug of 2023. It is not bland, not great either, but the right amount of good. Which, to me, deserves 4 stars. Their secret is the way the chicken was marinated, you can taste the spices in the meat. The pasta was a tad bit too oily for my preference, so I didn’t finish it. They had those discs to tell you when your order is up, so you may go around the market while waiting for your …
The chicken is tender, has a good flavor and is not salty. I ordered the spicy one, and the chilli powder they use is the same as what Jollibee uses. Their milk tea is also good. As for the service, it took us about 15 minutes before we got our order.
This was my niece’s meal. I had a taste at first then focused on my own meal from a different establishment. It was afterwards that I saw the chicken she ordered had bones. This was supposed to be Taiwanese Chicken right? It should be made of chicken fillets! Why does it have bones, in fact more than half of it. The batter was also indeed like Kwek kwek and had too much of either baking powder or baking soda. The only decent part was the plum powder they put on it. Please make sure you your signature chicken chops are actually fillets! This is awful.
One of the most disappointing food places I've eaten at so far. The batter tasted like kwek-kwek, the soup was bland, the noodles were a bit raw. And the FRIES, they were overly cooked, all of it tasted like it was made just back at home, completely not worth the price of 1300 pesos. The food was no different from Chowking, just a bit pricier. I'd rather eat at home than this disappointment of a restaurant.
