Am intrigued with the concept of "Pares". PARES Retiro is well-situated in this area with ample parking space. It also seemed to be popular judging by the number of cars and riders often parked there. I finally tried their premium pares and small sizzling bone marrow; plus the Mami - we qualified to get a freebie for which we chose to have their turon de leche. The flavor of star anise was strong in the premium pares which was ok. The bone marrow was cooked well and tasted good - that I was able to finish it. Mami was also fine and filling. Overall, a good dining experience. Price is about…
Cheap and quick fix of pares. For the goto, nothing special to note. Mayroon din silang air-conditioned area.
Ordered their “premium” pares which is 200 pesos as of this writing and an additional extra rice. The food isnt bad nor exceptional. The ambiance and service is okay (place has a plenty of parking spaces) Not that generous when it comes to servings. I just dont find it worth it.
We ordered lechon with garlic rice, sisig, lomi, beef mami, sago’t gulaman and hall-halo. Although the taste is good, the serving of the lechon with garlic rice is so few, 2 pieces of sliced lechon kawali. Other than that everything is good. Came back again with my sister a year after coz she was craving for pares. Since it was so early in the morning and Pares retiro was the only one open. Ordered bone marrow, tokwa’t baboy, lechosilog, tapsilog and sago’t gulaman…
Although Pares Retiro is famous with its Pares dishes, it seems it is lacking the taste of original pares. Sauce is bland, need more seasoning and the aroma of the “star anis”. Garlic rice is “so-so”. Buttered kangkong is much tastier than the main dish which is the pares.
