For a cause, sought the cafe to celebrate and mark the resilience of families of victims of the ejk. Silingan means neighborly. Service was quick and friendly, vibes was of activism and coffee definitely authentic and true to its origin. Hopefully, they'll adopt cafe pilipino to call their cafe americano 😉

Absolutely enjoyed staying a while at Silingan, taking the time to pause and reflect on the intricacies of the Philippine democracy and the several advocacies such as that of human rights that the owners of Silingan advocate for. As a coffee shop I enjoyed it's homey atmosphere with wide tables for either just reflecting or working. Silingan is definitely a must try in Cubao Expo, both for the good coffee (as I always order black) or the advocacy-drivenness of the space.

I've been wanting to visit for the longest time knowing the advocacy and stories of the staff and I was not disappointed. I was given an incredibly warm welcome by the staff. I took their suggestion of Hazelnut iced coffee. I forgot to mention to them that I don't like overly sweet drinks but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't overly sweet and delicious too. Pleasantly surprised with the coffee here. One of their best sellers, Inky Horchata (which I guess is dirty horchata) was quite good, with a pleasant sweet-spice balance to the flavor, with enough coffee to gently keep you energized. My wife ordered the dark mocha, which also had just the right amount of richness to highlight the chocolate, enough bittersweet hints to be considered dark, and without the vague sweetness that usually happens when the mix is mostly syrup.
