Sumo Niku - SM City Cebu

My experience at Sumo Niku unlimited barbecue was great. I dine-in here together with my close family friends. The food was delicious, especially the Japanese spicy chicken, chicken teriyaki, and pork belly, which paired perfectly with their flavorful sauces. The fruit salad as a side dish was a refreshing touch. The overall ambiance and service made it an enjoyable dining experience.

If you want to eat large like a sumo wrestler this is the place to be. A great selection of food and as a westerner cheese is definitely a welcome addition. And they never seemed to be quite a long line as some other restaurants.So that was another advantage.

Yakiniku is the Japanese version of the Korean Samgyeopsal. Their side dishes, called okazu are different from the Korean banchan, but it complements the BBQ meat. They come in very small servings, but are unlimited, just like their wide variety of meat, and there are way more choices than the Samgyeopsals I've been to. We were conservative with refills, asking only after we consume the previous order, as there is a fee for unfinished food. The place has a pleasant ambiance, is huge and very clean. Visiting Cebu Philippines🇵🇭 from Canada🇨🇦 and we were looking for a good Yakiniku. And this is definitely NOT the place! The meats had an after taste. I wonder how could this restaurant pass a meat quality check. It had a horrible after-taste that’s pungent couldn’t eat it at all. The slices of beef were so thin and they had the audacity and the nerve to let us pay for excess meat not consumed. What a freakin’ RIPPED OFF! Such a bad experience. Such a bad experience eating in this place with my friends. We asked to be transferred to another table somewhere close to AC but servers did not want us to transfer. We insisted until they let us. The attitude of the servers are not giving, after we transferred to another table the service seems to be flat and appears like they don’t want to be serve the food to us. We waited like 15ish minutes before getting our food and another minutessssss for the rice and several follow ups about it are nudged but the service and the vibes they’re giving are not meeting the standards.
