Checked out this casual Japanese restaurant in Mandaluyong to sample some of their mouthwatering ramens and other dishes. We tried the following: 》Special Kuro and Shiro Ramen 》Karaage and Gyoza Sets 》Ebi Curry Rice 》Teriyaki Roll 》Gyoza The hearty broth and springy noodles combined with the robust medley of textures/flavours were balanced, so impressed with the taste of all the ramens. The first mouthful was quite addictive and elevated by the different elements on them like the tender slices of pork belly, spring onion, black fungus, seaweed etc. The Ebi curry rice had a substantial amoun…
The restaurant is just along the walkway but enclosed to make it private for customers. The food is great and the price is on the average, the serving is also big. The staff are friendly but need to be more attentive and energetic maybe because of serving many customers. Try to eat if you crave for Japanese food within budget.
Ambiance: Though it is placed near the Food court, it has its own area where you get to feel a little bit of Japanese vibe. Food: The California Roll is amazing, Ramen broth isn't as thick and lacks umami flavor. Overall, the Ramen tasted okay, not the best and not the worst. Service/People: Very accommodating, and would even explain the differences between each food from the menu. Am I gonna eat there again? Probably not, unless I got invited.
Ukokkei a not so popular spot for noodle enthusiasts, promises an authentic Japanese dining experience, but falls short in several critical areas, most notably in the quality of its signature dish. Upon entering, the ambiance at Ukokkei is inviting, and minimalist decor reminiscent of traditional ramen shops in Japan. However, the primary draw—its ramen—leaves much to be desired. The most glaring issue is the pervasive fishy taste in the broth. The fishy taste is not only overpowering but suggests a lack of balance in the ingredients, possibly stemming from not properly cooked pork or impro…
went there for lunch last sunday. pretty quiet, despite being so near the busy food court. taste, small serving size & very long serving time do not fit the price point at all. the kuro ramen had tough noodles, tougher small slice of pork & was bland. teriyaki chicken rice is swimming in the salty soy sauce, it couldn't be eaten at all. it was also difficult to get the attention of the staff to order/pay/request water. wouldn't recommend this at all.
