This branch in Estancia looks like a cafeteria version of Via Mare. Food was consistently good though, adobong pusit, tapsilog, tocilog, puto bumbong were all good. Munggo was watery and tasted bland. Service can be improved.

some of the food were a hit or miss. their sisig is one of the best i have tried so far— savory with a hint of citrus. don’t get the chicken inasal skewers (sad)

It’s always a treat eating at Via Mare. So when I visited Manila recently, we went to the Via Mare Estancia at Capitol Commons. Its comfort food for me and I just had to visit again. We ordered the usual suspects….the Crispy Pork Binagoongan, the Tiyan ng Bangus Asado, Ensaladang Bagnet, Fresh Lumpiang Ubod, Dinuguan & Tortang Alimasag. Out of all of the dishes we ordered, the Tiyan ng Bangus and Crispy Pork Binagoongan were simply the best. The Ensaladang Bagnet needed a little bit of improvement, with the service size that is. I always appreciated Via Mare’s unpretentious food prep and taste. It’s a clean version of Filipino home cooking. I ordered crispy pork belly binagoongan. I expected a crispy pork belly soaked in bagoong sauce with fried eggplant — classic binagoongan. I was surprised to be served with separate components of crispy pork belly, bagoong, green mango, and pinakbet veggies. It was still OK, but to call it “binagoongan” is misleading. The rellenong talong was a good side/appetizer. The iced tea was a standout.

No oysters when we went for a 6 pm dinner on a Tuesday. You got to be there early or ask waiters right away if oysters are available. Or maybe the waiters should just let customers know right away once they’re seated. A third of the menu wasn’t available when we were there. They have Al fresco dining but don’t have the menu QR codes on the outside tables. Too bad I’m dependent on photos. The food was good though but Customer service needs improvement.
